Panama is one of the world's most liberal countries when it comes
to taxing foreign and offshore investors. Among its many advantages are:
- easy and inexpensive set up of a tax-exempt offshore company
- you can set up a local office without being subject to taxes as long
as no domestic income is made;
- no need to physucally be in Panama (ever)
- if you are involved in manufacturing or in the export business, you
can even do so taxfree within Colon Free Zone
- Panama has very strict bank secrecy laws
- the country's official currency is the US dollar – No inflationary
manipulation of the currency by corrupt local governments – only the United
States Federal Reserve can print the country's official currency.
- Panama's corporation laws are among the most liberal in the world and
have remained practically unchanged since 1927, modelled after the Delaware
Corporation Law.
- no requirements as to corporate ownership by nationals or local residents
as with most other tax havens; no citizenship or residency requirements
or restrictions with respect to directors and officers of a Panama corporation,
either.
- stockholders' and directors' meetings may be held anywhere in the world,
inside or outside the Republic of Panama itself.
- capital shares may be issued to bearer (i.e. in non-nominative form)
- the ideal protection of the corporation owner's identity and total privacy.
However, if you prefer, you can issue shares in a nominative form, too.
- funds and accumulated offshore profits can be deposited or invested
in any country in the world – without becoming subject to taxation in Panama.
E.g. the activities of a Panamanian corporation as a legal independent
entity would not be subject to US taxation, as the United States does not
tax foreign investors.
- at only US$ 150 per year, Panama's current annual maintenance fees
are one of the cheapest in the world.
- Panama is an ideal residence and/or a retirement haven
- Residencia (permanent stay permit) is easy to get and naturalization
takes only three years. All you have to do is prove that you're at least
45 years of age and have enough money so as not to be a burden on the state
(amount not specified).
